JOB TITLE : Child Find, Evaluation, and Compliance Specialist

       

CLASSIFICATION : Exempt       PAY GRADE : A4

REPORTS TO : Director Grimes County Special Education Cooperative

LOCATION : Grimes County Special Education Administrative Offices

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

* Support the identification and evaluation of children with disabilities or suspected disabilities and the possible need for special education and related services

* Ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines and requirements for special education referrals, evaluations, and Initial ARD meetings and Child Find requirements

* Coordinate the special education referral and evaluation process

* Coordinate and ensure compliance with SPP 11 & 12 requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

* Bachelor’s degree in education or related field

* Master's degree preferred in the area of Special Education or Administration

* Certified Educational Diagnostician or Licensed School Psychologist

Special Knowledge/Skills:

* Knowledge of state and federal special education laws and regulations

* Excellent skill in interpersonal communication and relationships

* Knowledge of Child Find requirements

* Knowledge of and skill in applying local, state and federal regulations related to students with disabilities.

* Skill in developing and presenting training related to compliance with special education

* Ability to effectively respond to inquiries and complaints

* Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize work, and detail-oriented

* Demonstrated ability to use good judgment and discretion in sensitive, confidential issues and projects

* Experience in a supervisory role

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

* Plan and deliver professional development for the GCSEC staff and member districts

* Monitor timelines for Initial Early Childhood Initial placement ARDs

* Maintain documentation for reporting purposes

* Coordinates resources, personnel, communications, and case management activities to ensure proper location, identification, assessment, and placement of children in need of special education services

* Assists parents and others within the community by facilitating and coordinating the process of identifying suspected children and insuring that these children receive evaluations to determine if they are eligible for services under

* Promote public awareness of Child Find as required

* Facilitates the District's special education Child Find obligations

* Compile, maintain and monitor all district, state and federal reports and records.

* Plans, trains, implements and monitors a comprehensive system for auditing special education records to ensure compliance with state and federal laws

* Monitors and ensures compliance with Federal Special Education Indicators SPP 11 and SPP 12

* Communicates new developments in special education law

* Provide training to District administrators and other staff regarding compliance

* Manage the special education accountability with a focus on student's individual needs as defined by each student's IEP

* Maintains confidentiality of information

* Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Special Services

* Support program planning, implementation, and evaluation with district staff and outside agencies

* Serve as a resource for district and community agencies

* Provide training and program guidance

* Other duties as assigned.
