Job Title: Behavior MTSS Specialist Exemption Status/Test: Exempt

Primary Purpose:
Work cooperatively with instructional personnel and administrators to design and provide quality, research-based emotional and behavioral supports and programs to students who have been determined eligible for special education services.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required
Enrolled in or completed a Master’s degree program from an accredited college or university in Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education or related field (preferred)
Certification:
Special education certification required
Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) preferred
School Psychologist, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Texas School Counselor Certification, and related fields considered
All certifications and/or licenses must be recognized in the State of Texas.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to collect and analyze behavioral data to create IEP goals; knowledge of emotional and behavioral disabilities; ability to conduct functional behavior assessments and create related behavior intervention plans; knowledge of social emotional curriculums
Experience:
Minimum of three years’ experience working with students with emotional or behavioral disabilities
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assists in implementing behavioral interventions and supports by providing appropriate behavioral strategies and materials to meet the needs of students with at-risk behaviors, including working directly with high-needs students implementing the district’s behavior support program.
2. Plans, organizes, and conducts, with the collaboration of central office and campus leadership, system coordination and professional learning for staff on behavioral strategies.
3. Coordinates school-based support, as requested, to include identifying and modeling effective behavioral interventions.
4. Manages the work and assignment, in collaboration with campus principal(s), of behavior staff, including ongoing training.
5. Work with campuses to identify students exhibiting behavior that impedes the safety of self/others or significantly disrupts the learning environment.
6. Work closely with school administrators, school counselors, teachers, and assessment/evaluation staff in developing intervention plans and progress monitoring for students with behavioral concerns.
7. Maintain confidentiality per state and federal regulations.
8. Support the facilitation of campus teams with data-based behavioral decisions regarding student learning needs.
9. Adhere to professional ethics and standards and be a positive representative of Navasota Independent School District and the Grimes County Special Education Cooperative.

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; [P.E. teachers: automated external defibrillator (AED)]
Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking
Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment
Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
